Route gaps and segment starts

Why a gap may not appear as a broken route.

A long gap is evaluated against resumed distance and accuracy. If the resumed point is still nearby, Tam can treat it as stationary recovery instead of adding a segment start, but the interval may still reduce credited moving time. Low battery, power-saving mode, background suspension, and phone shielding can all make a gap more likely, even when the visible line later reconnects.

What to do

  1. Check timestamps between points.
  2. Treat a long gap as uncertain even if connected.
  3. Use normal power mode and open-sky phone placement to reduce ambiguity.
