Plan an efficient territory loop
Choose route shapes and locations that make territory easier to capture and hold.
Out-and-back routes are usually poor for territory because the return path largely retraces the route instead of enclosing new area. Circles are efficient, while squares and other block-shaped loops work well on a street grid; long thin rectangles usually enclose less area for the same effort. You can run inside or outside the prospective geofence without hugging a wall or curb, as long as the accepted route closes within 200 m of its start.
What to do
- Plan a loop rather than a route that simply reverses along the same path.
- Use a circle or compact street-block shape when practical.
- Choose whether you want high-traffic territory for competition or quieter territory that may be easier to hold over time.
